We're delighted to welcome Lucia to Covéa Insurance as a Regional Underwriter.
Like many people in the insurance industry, Lucia didn't set out with a career in insurance in mind, but it's a path that's led to nearly two decades of experience across claims, household, mid-net-worth and commercial property insurance.
After spending 18 years with Gallagher, Lucia found herself looking for a new opportunity following redundancy and was keen to find a business where she could continue developing her skills while being part of a strong, supportive team.
"Following redundancy, I knew I wanted a fresh start with a reputable company where I could enhance my skills," says Lucia.
Covéa quickly stood out.
"It felt like the right fit from the start. Covéa is a well-established business respected in UK & Europe, and I had a really good gut feeling after my informal interview and speaking with the recruitment team. So I listened to it."
Although she's only been with us a short time, Lucia says she's already been struck by the strength of the relationships across the business, particularly with brokers.
"It's been a challenging year for the market, but Covéa's underwriting approach remains focused and sound. What really stands out is the trust that's been built with brokers over many years, alongside the exceptional level of service that's provided."
Perhaps most importantly, Lucia has felt right at home from day one.
"It's been brilliant. I keep pinching myself at how easily I've settled in. The team have been incredibly welcoming and supportive, and I honestly couldn't have asked for a better group of people to join. We just tick."
She laughs that one thing she's quickly discovered is that conversations in the team often end up revolving around food, but she's also been making a point of meeting colleagues from across the business and getting to know as many people as possible.
When asked what excites her most about joining Covéa, the answer is simple.
"The people. We spend so much of our lives at work and the culture here really stands out. You can be yourself, there's mutual respect, empowerment and scope for development & progress."
Looking ahead, Lucia is eager to build strong relationships with brokers and continue delivering the high standards that customers and partners have come to expect.
"I'm always happy to have a conversation to better understand a risk, which helps us achieve the right outcome for everyone involved. I hope to bring my underwriting experience, a flexible approach and clear communication, while matching the expertise and service levels that the team is already known for."
