When storms hit, customers need confidence that their claims will be handled quickly and fairly. We’ve always been committed to treating customers fairly, and we believe our process for storm claims reflects this.

We use three independent weather tools to verify conditions, ensuring we consider all available data before making decisions. And, where possible, we provide customers with options for settlement because flexibility matters.

We continue to consider a wide range of information when assessing storm claims and supporting evidence. Our approach has been refined over time to ensure every claim is assessed thoroughly and consistently.

Understanding Storm Damage vs Wear and Tear

Storm damage is different from general deterioration. If a roof is already weakened by age or lack of maintenance, a storm may simply expose existing issues rather than cause new damage. Insurance is designed to cover sudden, unforeseen events, not gradual wear and tear. That’s why we ask questions like:

  • When was your roof last maintained?

  • Is your roof in good condition?

These details help us determine whether the damage is truly storm-related and ensure claims are handled fairly and in line with policy terms.

One Standard Process Across the Team

All colleagues follow the same best-practice framework, so customers receive a fair and consistent experience every time.

Customer Choice at Settlement

Where available, customers can choose how they want to settle, whether that’s a cash payment or repairs, giving them flexibility and control.

Shared Best Practice with Suppliers

We’ve extended our approach beyond our own team, sharing best-practice guidelines with suppliers to ensure fairness throughout the claims journey.

Why It Matters

This isn’t just about process, it’s about trust. By combining transparency, consistency, and customer choice, we’ve made storm claim settlements fairer for everyone.
