What better way to help young people recognise insurance fraud than to get them involved in raising awareness of it?

That’s the thinking behind Check it’s legit before you click, our ghost broking awareness campaign, which we’re preparing to take into schools.

Rather than simply telling students what to watch out for, we’ll be challenging them to come up with their own ideas for spreading the message, with the opportunity to see selected concepts brought to life.

It’s an approach we’ve already started exploring with our graduates and work experience students, who’ve been helping us find fresh, creative ways to tackle a serious subject.

And this Halloween, we’ll be sharing our own interpretation of ghost broking. Expect a little humour, but with an important message behind it.

Why does it matter?

Ghost brokers pose as legitimate insurance brokers, often using social media to attract young drivers with cheap deals that turn out to be fake or invalid.

Victims can lose money, find themselves driving without valid insurance and face serious consequences.

At Covéa, we work hard to identify and tackle fraud. But prevention matters just as much.

We want young people to recognise the warning signs, question offers that seem too good to be true and check who they’re dealing with before handing over their money.

And we believe involving young people in how we communicate that message will help it reach even further.

Because if we want young people to recognise fraud, we need to involve them in how we talk about it.

Check it’s legit before you click.
