Celebrating 25 Years of Dave Jowett at Covéa Insurance

From Halifax House to shaping the future, thank you, Dave!

Twenty-five years ago, Dave Jowett stepped into Halifax House with a bundle of nerves, a lot of excitement, and a brand-new role as a graduate trainee. What he found was a company that valued integrity, growth, and people, and he’s been helping to build that culture ever since.

Dave began in the Operational side of the company, learning fast, leaning in, and saying yes to opportunity. Over time, his role evolved from hands-on delivery to strategic leadership, where he now helps shape our distribution strategy, bringing curiosity, calm pragmatism, and a people-first mindset to everything he does.

Ask Dave for a career highlight and he’ll point to helping deliver the Greenlight Claims Helpline more than 20 years ago “a defining moment that pushed my limits and reminded me why I love what I do.” And in the “memorable for all the wrong reasons” category: the charity day he dressed as a 6’4″ Oompa Loompa, only to discover the orange face paint didn’t wash off.  Let’s call that… long-lasting brand impact.

Dave’s proudest achievements aren’t just platforms and programmes, they’re people. He’s built teams, mentored colleagues, and celebrated others success as wholeheartedly as his own. It’s no surprise his favourite piece of advice is one he lives by: “Stay curious, stay humble.”

From digital transformation to changing customer expectations, Dave’s seen the industry shift at pace. The rise of automation and data analytics still amazes him turning days into minutes and giving us deeper insight than ever before. Through it all, his motivation hasn’t wavered: learn, grow, and make a meaningful impact.

Dave knows Covéa will continue to lead with innovation and purpose, embracing change while staying true to our core values. His advice for new starters is classic and spot-on: be open to learning, build strong relationships, and be resilient. And to his younger self? “Speak up, take risks… and avoid being an Oompa Loompa at all costs.”

Dave, thank you for 25 years of dedication, leadership, and good humour.
